What we collect and why

• The property address and ZIP, to find the parcel in the county's property roll.
• Owner names and the legal description, from the county roll or as you type them. They print on the notice.
• Each signer's name and mailing address. They print on the notice; the mailing address is where a title examiner writes.
• Your email, for the notice, sign-in links, filing reminders and the email that says the county has recorded it.
• A photo of the stamped first page, if you upload one, to read the instrument number.
• County alert emails sent to your alias at alerts.zoneshield.com. We forward each one to you and read it for the recording.
• For a gift: your email, the recipient's name and email, and your note.
• Payment: PayPal takes the payment. We receive the order reference, the amount and the PayPal account email. We never see card numbers.

What becomes public

A recorded notice is a public record: the names as printed, the legal description and the mailing addresses. It never carries a phone number, an email or a date of birth. We cannot take a recorded document out of the county records; a recorded Release of Notice ends it.

Cookies

Three, all needed for the site to work. None are for advertising or tracking.

• noi_session keeps you signed in, for 30 days.
• noi_drafts lets this browser open the notices it started before you sign in, for 30 days.
• noi_code remembers a gift or discount code from a link, for 30 days.

We count how many people reach each purchase step on our own server, without names, emails or addresses.

Who else handles it

PayPal, to take payment; our email delivery provider, to send email; and our hosting and storage providers, which hold the data for us. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Notice PDFs and stamp photos are kept in write-once storage so the document you recorded can always be matched to the one we prepared. [COUNSEL: retention period for notices, stamp photos, account and payment records.]

Emails

Filing reminders stop once you mark the step done, and never exceed three per step.

Your choices
